Hydrant Systems are an effective means of extinguishing large fires that could otherwise wreak havoc. Hydrant systems allow firefighters to attack fires from a distance. Hydrant valves are designed to supply water at very high pressures to extinguish fires. Through the discreet use of special branch pipes, pressurized water can also be used as a “leaf” to push smoke into burning buildings.

Carbon Dioxide as an extinguishing agent is fast and complete, extinguishing fires in seconds and minimizing damage. It is stored as a liquid under pressure. The carbon dioxide  expands rapidly to vapor and becomes fine particles of dry ice as shown. This “snow” quickly absorbs heat and quickly turns into steam under normal temperature conditions, and even faster in the presence of fire.
